Instead of St Michael’s being a church that gathers for worship, teaching each Sunday, we are better described as being a church where everyone is involved in one way or another with God’s mission. Mission is our main thing. Our mission is no different from the mission that Jesus gave to his first followers – to go and make disciples – seeing them not only come to a living faith in him but also into maturity in him.

Given that this is our main thing – drawing people into relationship with Christ – everything we do follows from this mission – our worship, our community life and our discipleship. Hopefully everything we are, and everything we do, starts with God’s mission, his love for our community and for its people.

Being involved in ‘mission’ is a whole life activity – not just a church time activity or a leisure time activity – it is a home time and work time activity too. That’s why we soemtimes get together to form small groups all with different purposes and missions of their own, all hoping to love God and love neighbour and to invite others to join us as we follow Jesus and build our lives upon him.

Being involved in God’s mission is great

Come and join us
