Young people

Young people are at the centre of our church life and we want to help you find life in all its fullness. That’s why, in partnership with Bath Youth for Christ we have set up the LIFE365 project.

The LIFE365 project is run by
Luke Brightwell
and you can email him to find out latest news about what’s happening, but here’s a fuller breakdown…

LIFE 365 is about having a dedicated team focused on Twerton and Whiteway. LIFE 365 is about working with children, young people and their families in a variety of ways outlined below:

  • Accompanying Project – supporting year 6 pupils through one-one meetings for a year, particularly focused around supporting them in their move up to secondary school
  • Parenting Work – supporting parents through ad hoc work such as giving lifts, clearing gardens, a listening ear and TLC
  • Youth Cafes – one for 11-14 year olds and one for 15-18 year olds. Providing a safe place for young people to spend their time. As well as expanding these to offer a free meal
  • Explore – a chance to explore the Christian faith through games, discussions, talks and activities
  • Young Leaders Scheme – is a Bath YFC scheme that has already seen four young people from Twerton and Whiteway helping at the youth cafes on a regular basis. They learn to be leaders, are mentored and also join with us in praying for the projects
  • Philippines Trip – working with Mercy in Action who work with street children out in the Philippines. In July/August 2013 we will be taking a group of 5 young people out to the Philippines for three weeks, this will be a life changing experience for all of us as we encounter extreme poverty and work hard to raise the money needed to go.
  • Local Intern – having the young leaders has led to an opportunity for one local young person to spend a year as an intern. They will gain a youth work qualification, develop their leadership and be discipled
  • Breakfast Club – provides a free breakfast to children at Twerton Infants school two days a week. This will enable long term relationships to be formed with the children and their parents
  • Kids Club – for Junior school aged children. A place where children will explore God in a relevant and exciting way. Children are provided with a free meal, enabling relationships to develop with both children and their parents

What, when and where:

  • Breakfast Club at Twerton Infants School 8-8.45 Monday and Wednesday (this is for children that attend the school)
